Taylor and Brit,
I love you both more than anything in my life; it’s crazy, I don’t even have to try; it just pours out of my heart for you. Family is one of my core values, and what it means in my life is always evolving and growing. I know this, no one can make it on their own, and if you are going to become 100% of the women you were designed to BE, you need each other. Together you two can change the world. By yourself, your pretty damn good, but together protecting, pushing, encouraging, challenging, you also have the key ingredient I feel for you, unending, undying, limitless love, for each other.
In EVERYTHING, you do think about how it can bless and help each other. NEVER consider anything important personally or professionally that doesn’t include at least listening to each other’s opinion. ALWAYS be ready to give up and sacrifice for each other.
Reciprocity starts with you two in your own lives; then, it flows out of that pure, authentic place to your community.
The way to stay grounded is always to sacrifice for each other. It NEVER should matter what it feels like. Sometimes sacrifice hurts more than anything, and sometimes it feels like the right thing to do. The emotion keeps us connected and gives the sacrifice meaning for sure, but that’s not where the power comes from. Sacrifice for each other is in your DNA; you were born with it first for each other, then outward to family and community. NEVER Compromise this value with each other if you do, you give away your power.
On any given day, the spotlight will shine on one or the other of you, maybe at times on both of you. Don’t be fooled by that shine, and never let it come between you. The shine only matters to demonstrate the values, to tell the story of sacrifice, love, hope, community, family, honor, courage, equality, opportunity, and reciprocity.
Don’t be foolish enough to stand up for something you are not trying to live in your own life. When you screw it up (and you will), say I’m sorry, fix it, flush it and Keep Coming Forward.
Finally, don’t forget to be happy. Do SO many things that make you happy! A life filled with purpose must include happiness. I know it sounds silly, but I’ve spent much of my life being too serious, not laughing enough, and I regret that. It’s a lesson I’m working on, an Ideal Value I’m aiming at every day.
Tay and Brit, you amaze me. The Creator designed you perfectly. Don’t forget to acknowledge the Holy Spirit in your quiet times. Religion is death, but I believe that a relationship with the Creator is real.
I don’t know how I could love you more, but somehow my love for you two continues to grow every day. That love makes my life worth living. S&H
(Well, I guess that’s it, haha, I don’t know how to finish these things I write to you but it’s with all the grace and truth I have in my being.)
Keep Coming Forward,
Dad
